Oakwood Center is the hub of activity at Heartland. The spacious atrium welcomes guests and gives visitors direct access to restrooms, the multipurpose room, and dining areas. The dorm-style lodges are conveniently located nearby.
Featuring audio, visual, and lighting systems with a full-size stage, the multipurpose room offers seating for groups up to 900. It is also ideal for larger banquet settings and is equipped to convert to full-size indoor basketball and volleyball courts.
Our dining hall comfortably seats up to 340, and our Food Services staff makes each meal an enjoyable feast. (With advance notice, we can accommodate most dietary needs). For private luncheons or small groups, the dining hall offers areas that can be separated by partitions.
For school groups, students are housed in one to two of our three dorm-style lodges. Each lodge provides overnight accommodations for up to 196 people. The three dorm-style lodges each have meeting space for up to 75 people and are used during inclement weather as classrooms. All three buildings can be used for larger groups that will have breakout sessions in the lodges and large group meetings in the Oakwood Center.
For your convenience, a hospitality nook is located off each lobby, offering a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee and tea service. Dining is conveniently located next door at Oakwood Center, and the other great activities at Heartland are all within walking distance.
Each dorm-style Lodge has 17 sleeping rooms sharing two bright, spacious restroom & shower facilities. Linen service is available for an additional charge.
Teachers bringing cabin leaders to stay in the dorm with students have the option of staying in Beechnut Lodge by availability.
Each beautifully decorated room in Beechnut has a mini-fridge, microwave, complimentary in-room coffee and tea, full linen service, wireless internet and more. Ten rooms offer two queen beds, and two rooms have one queen and one bunk bed.
The central conference area is warm and inviting with oak conference tables and cushioned swivel chairs. A kitchenette allows for serving of light refreshments — a wonderful setting for your next gathering.
The grounds at Heartland offer many unique areas for students to meet and learn about the nature and history that surrounds them.
With over 350 acres, Heartland Outdoor School has so much to enjoy including a bird blind, archery range, prairie tower, 18th century village, team challenge courses, Alum Creek, nature center, orienteering course and so much more!
